Our Story
Gabriel is from a beautiful fishing village in the northern region of Malawi , Sarah is from Salisbury a small town in the south of England. After many years backpacking around Africa Sarah opened a business in Nkhata bay where she met Gabriel they both share a passion for helping people and creating opportunities for others . So in 2011 they set up Ellotte Future Building with the goal of building a nursery school . Which they did with tradition locally made brick and by employing local builders. The building took some time to complete with fundraising along they way it was completed in 2012 when we welcomed our first children. Since then we have been going form strength to strength we now have running water and electricity ! which for a developing country is not a straight forward , we had to wait years , yes years for the electricity connection to be close enough to feasibly join. We are so proud of where we have come from and what we have achieved BUT we are not done we have some many big plans and dreams we need your help with ! we believe every child has a right to an education which can provide an opportunity for a sustainable future . Currently this IS NOT happening Only 35 percent of children in Malawi complete primary school. Such a low ratio can be attributed to multiple factors. More than half of the country's population lives below the poverty line. Many children enrol and drop out of school frequently due to employment responsibilities at home or illnesses . We want to build a primary school so the children who will be too old for our nursery have some where to go with out putting there families under pressure to pay for there early years education. Not only that we want to set up and fund to pay the secondary school fees for the families of children who have a special passion for learning but cant afford school fees.
